Hi everyone, as you may have realized I'm very involved in my college including speaking about mental health during each year's Mental Health Awareness Week. This time, I wanted to ask you all what you think people who do NOT suffer from depression have a hard time understanding or are quick to judge about those who do have some sort of depressive disorder. NOTE: Please ONLY answer this if you have been diagnosed with some sort of depressive disorder!!! Example, if you are bipolar, EVEN THOUGH you have your depressive states but are not diagnosed with a depressive disorder such as major depression or chronic depression, please do NOT answer this. I will be taking the top 10 responses and will be answering them in my speech at my college to try to bring some awareness and understanding to the illness. I'm going to be going on several social media sites to try to collect answers so the top 10 answers from all sites put together will be discussed. Thank you so much!! Hugs to all!

When I first told my parents that I wanted therapy, my father's first reaction was "Why? You live in a decent house with two loving parents and financial stability. What do you have to complain about besides the weekend chores?"
So basically, the most prominent thing I notice is when others forget that it's a genetically inherited chemical imbalance that I can't help and they get offended that I don't think my life is "perfect" enough as is.
(Luckily the genetics came from my mother so she was more understanding)
